Some features may be limited when used with other vendors' smartphones. Get a lamp with a smart bulb in and place that in the front room - that way you can set it to flash if there's a notification. Have a color changing LED in the bedroom and set up a webCore script that sets it to a certain color if something is left open. I have done pretty much the same thing minus the sonos notifications cause I don't have any. I would love to pick up a bunch of them but just so expensive.
